First of all Happy New Year to everyone! May 2012 be the best year yet!
With 2011 behind us, 2012 should be another great year in music with house music finally taking over the world! Just think a few years ago, only true music fans knew what house music, dubstep, trance and electro were! In 2011 we saw people like Skrillex, Kaskade and Avicii just to name few rise to the top of the music scene. Twenty-Twelve should be no different as new faces emerge like Tommy Trash and Mord Fustang.
Now this isn’t your daddy’s house music, Tiesto and Armin van Buuren are long gone! They may have started this revolution but this new generation has taken house music to a new level. Just look at Swedish House Mafia selling out MSG in New York in 90 seconds! Not even the prince of music Justin Bieber sold out MSG that quick! House music is truly here and 2012 should be another amazing year.
What a year 2011 was, some amazing songs came out from the start to the finish and here are my favorite tracks of this past year. This wasn’t a easy list to come up with but someone had to do it!
Alesso’s remix of “Pressure” simply turned this track into a instant classic and It set the tone for an amazing year of EDM music. Nadia Ali’s voice is the perfect match to the sweeping synths and piano riffs in this pristine track and you just can’t listen to it without smiling.
What a follow up to “One” and “Save The World” by SHM, teaming up with Knife Party to bring this Daft Punk inspired track. Some may say “Save The World” may have been the bigger track but “Antidote” simply defines what a year it was for EDM, as it combines all the best elements of house, electro and dubstep to bring a killer anthem.
No other track was as big as Avicii’s “Levels”. If you disagree, then you seriously need to double check your music taste! First premiered in late 2010 and since then it’s shown up in nearly every single set from every top DJ this year and the song wasn’t officially released up until a few months ago which is a true testament to its awesomeness and its staying power. All that needs to be said is, Ohhhh sometimes…
Here is a great playlist of all the killer tracks of 2011
